A new website dedicated to mountain weather in more than 9300 (and growing) major summits for climbers and mountaineers, provided for up to 5 different elevations.

While this information may be indispensable in planning your ascent, please treat it critically and verify against other sources. “Jebel Shams Resort is just a few minutes from the 3 x main trekking routes on Jebel Shams and it's famous, "Grand Canyon". The trekking on the mountain ranges from 3 hours duration to 12 hours to the summit. Jebel Shams or "Sun Mountain" offers specatcular views and has an ideal climate all year round even in summer, rarely exceeding 32 degrees.
Access to the resort is recommended bt 4 x 4 vehicle, but can be accessed by saloon car as long as there has been no recent rains. The drive from Muscat takes about 2.5 hours. From Muscat take the main Nizwa highway and at Nizwa follow sings for Bahla and Al Hamra. Once you have reached Al Hamra, take the road running left past Al Hamra Shell Petrol Station. Keep going straight and you will start to climb the mountain. Most of the road is tarmac, with a 7 km middle section, which is off road.”

“Hello,
I was planning to climb the Breithorn on sunday June 10, but the cable car that brings you to Felskin and Mittelallanin apparently does not open until June 16th, too late for me.
Does anyone know what options there are to climb this or another relatively easy 4.000 m peak? I have the proper gear and experience.
Thanks in advance!”

“During winter months, microspikes are the recommended carry,
with crampons for the melt-freeze conditions that happens in spring
The Trail from round valley back to the tram will melt-freeze just from the volume of snowshoers and foot traffic at any time in the winter. The trail up to Wellmans divide
often times will resemble a luge run. The Sid Davis short cut suffers the same problem.
There are three established winter routes from the tram. 1.Main trail 2. Sid Davis shortcut. Gene peak traverse
Ramp to the ranger station often icy at any time in the winter.Yes you can walk the main trail to the top without microspikes or crampons but your stride will be like walking on egg shells. It is all relative to your skill level. Being safe keeps it fun.”
